Not since 2000 has an impending year so intrigued and concerned the general public like 2012. Many people have a vague idea that the world is heading towards some kind of doom due to a calendar created by an ancient and mysterious race. Since its founding in 2005, the Science Cabaret of Ithaca has always been about presenting the complementary nature of art and science to the community in a relaxed public atmosphere. The fall season premiere of this series, held last Tuesday at the WildFire Lounge (formerly the Lost Dog Café) in Ithaca, was no exception. Barbara Mink and Frank Moon were the featured speakers at “Event Horizons: Science in Art.”

Science Cabaret kicks off
with Light in Winter theme

The fall series of Science Cabaret returns to Ithaca on Tuesday with an event sponsored by Light in Winter and featuring its founder and artistic director, Barbara Mink. The cabaret, a salon that aims to take science out of the university and lecture halls and into the public eye, will proceed monthly through June at WildFire Lounge, the former Lost Dog space at 106 S. Cayuga St. in Ithaca.
